Full Description
An east-west ditch was discovered during excavations at 44 North Hill in 1967 (ECC658). The ditch consisted of a V-shaped cut penetrating 4.5ft. into the natural subsoil. A continuation of the same ditch may have been found during excavations in 1964 in the garden of Logarth, Nunn's Road (ECC940).<1>
The ditch may have belonged to the northern defences of the fortress but Crummy has offered an alternative post-Boudican explanation.<2>
