Removal of tessellated pavement (see 12438) revealed a bed of red concrete, overlying an earlier floor of red concrete.

A tessellated pavement and foundations are recorded by PG Laver in what was formerly Messrs Truslove's yard on the S side of Northgate Street, near the entrance to the yard in 1920.

A tessellated pavement and an urn were found under the middle of Priory Street.

Wire noted that a red tessellated pavement of large size but much broken reported found by a bricklayer at back of "Mr Stirling Macleans", North Hill - identified as 45 North Hill (Wheeler and Laver).

Earliest records of the site are in Wire's Diary, Nov 1845 to Mar 1847 there is also a sketch plan in the album Wire was informed that a mosaic pavement was found 20 years earlier but covered up again.
