Scattered and sparse archaeological features were defined in 19 trial-trenches excavated by Colchester Archaeological Trust in Colchester Garrison Alienated Land Area J2, in October 2006 and September 2007. No further investigation took place.

A number of medieval and late medieval ditches, pits (clay extraction pits?) and post-holes were defined (possibly part of a structure?) in advance of the construction of a water pipeline in 2011.

Bronze Age and Early Iron Age ditches were defined in advance of the construction of a water pipeline in 2011.

Cropmark of enclosures

Three small and one larger cropmark ring ditches.

A large religious complex was constructed at some point in the later 1st century AD, comprising a square-shaped temple enclosure c.1ha. in area, defined by a ditch (with an east-facing entrance) that is almost certainly late Iron Age in origin, with a double portico (with triple walls) around the outside and with a temple, comprising cella and ambulatory (14m in width), in the south-east corner of the corner. The Roman portico itself was set within a larger walled enclosure or temenos (c.2.65ha. in area), which abutted another large (c.4ha.) walled area to the east (see MCC7043 for both), to the north of the theatre (MCC2831) and north of the site of Cunobelin's farmstead (MCC7044).

Trial-trenched evaluation and subsequent excavation (following geophysical survey) defined Middle Iron Age occupation and Roman ditches (possibly defining an enclosure and/or field boundaries) at Fiveways Fruit Farm, Dyer's Road, Stanway.

Group of 11 ring ditches within a subrectangular enclosure, part of a second ?enclosure lies to the NE containing a large double-ditched ring ditch with a dark central area.

Archaeological investigations at Cuckoo Farm Park and Ride, Myland, defined a wide scatter of 30 pits that exhibited in situ burning and charcoal-rich fills. Only two contained datable artefacts -substantial portions of jars of 1st century AD date.
